Dr. Ghohari Dr. Foroozan Ghohari
Dr. Foroozan Ghohari is a family doctor with her medical degree from Iran and Graduated from family practice residency from UBC in 2009. She is working as a family doctor with interest to integrate functional and alternative medicine to conventional medicine. Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engaging both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. It is an evolution in the practice of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Functional Medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual. She also has the certificate of Homeopathy from the Center for Education and Development of Clinical Homeopathy (CEDH) USA. Other Interests She has interest in Women health and she is able to provide services to the women that need pap test or have other female issues separate from her family practice. She has interest in studying and participating in different alternative medicine, natural health and orthomolecular conferences. She has Christian faith and strongly believe in following Jesus Christ and His main command: You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. |

As the newest addition to this group of amazing doctors in Guildford Surrey BC, I am very excited to share my knowledge and skills in the service of residents of Surrey and nearby cities. I began my family medicine journey 2 years ago in a town called McBride in Northern BC where my practice involved attending to emergency room patients, caring for admitted patients who have acute illnesses and patients in long term care. Also, I was one of the only 3 doctors doing outpatient clinic works. Although I enjoyed my short time there, my family decided to settle in BC lower mainland, so here we are in the heart of Surrey. I graduated from UBC Family Practice Residency Program in 2017. I also finished Residency Program in General Surgery in the Philippines. I had my medical degree conferred in the Philippines in 1994. My work experience involved Public Health and Community Medicine when I was Municipal Health Officer of an underserved island in the Philippines under the "doctors to the Barrios Program"; of the Department of Health. Also I was Medical Officer for the departments of Paediatrics and General Surgery. My affiliations include: CCFP, I am certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. UBC Faculty of Family Medicine, as clinical instructor. Member of Surrey North Delta Division of Family Practice. Member of Filipino MDs in BC and BC Pinoy MD. I am also an active member of Saint Matthew Parish Surrey Music Ministry. My plan is to stay in Family Practice in Surrey for the next 15 years and become more involved in the community. Other interests I have special interest in music. I play acoustic guitar and loves to jam with other music enthusiasts. |

After I finished my medical school in Ukraine back in 1987, I did training in neurosurgery and then spent about seven years working as staff neurosurgeon in Ukraine. At that time I also spent 5 years working on my Ph.D. In late 90s I did Masters in Public Health at George Washington University in DC, USA and then we moved to Canada. Initially, I worked as a program manager for the University Health Network in Toronto and then in 2003 I was accepted to a residency program at the University of British Columbia (UBC). After I finished my residency I worked for about two years with a group of five family physicians in Vancouver and also in various walk-in clinics and then I opened my regular family practice. Currently I enjoy working with three other absolutely outstanding family physicians and additionally we also have a pediatrician specialist who works at our office on Wednesdays. Since I very much appreciate education in general and medical training, I am affiliated with the UBC school of medicine and I precept medical school students, nurse practitioner students and family medicine residents in their rotation at our office. At our office I work four days a week: Monday, Tuesdays, Thursday and Friday (usually 8 AM to 5 PM). My Wednesdays are so called "academic days", I enjoy reading and research medical literature. On Saturdays I see patients at Fleetwood assisted living facility where I have an office. Other interests I strongly believe that many diseases could be prevented and cured by diet and lifestyle changes and I enjoy reading and finding new knowledge in this topic and more specifically in relation of autoimmune disorders and various types of memory problems. I also like to research sleep and sleep related disorders. I enjoy the teachings of Eckhart Tolle "The power of Now". |
